Terms of Engagement

A deposit of $300 (or payment in full if your chosen package costs less than $300) must be paid in order to book my services. Please pay this by internet banking, using your initials and ceremony date as the references. Please also like my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/getwed page. Once your deposit is received I will confirm your booking.

As part of your booking, if yours is a wedding ceremony I will reserve the day of your wedding just for you, and will book no further ceremonies on your wedding date. This means that if there are any last minute changes or challenges to attend to, I can give you my full attention. There are huge benefits to doing only one wedding a day, for example if the weather is playing up and you are keen to tie the knot outside, we can wait together for the rain to clear. Also, if you are late (which you will have let me know in advance out of courtesy), I can accommodate this.

The remainder of my fee is payable one week prior to your ceremony to the same bank account as you paid your deposit to. Please use the same references.

Your ceremony will go ahead only if the balance has been paid in full.

Travel

I travel anywhere in New Zealand. Let's chat about your needs, I certainly don't want travel costs to be prohibitive to you if you want me as your celebrant.

Refund policy

If there is an "act of god" or if you change your mind, and do not wish to go ahead with your ceremony, please notify me at your earliest convenience. Although I am not required under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 to refund your deposit, I will consider this on a case by case basis.

My unavailability

If for some unforseen reason beyond my control I am unable to officiate at your ceremony, I will endeavour to find another celebrant to replace me at no extra cost to you. They may use any ceremony that I have prepared for you.

Marriage licence

Couples are responsible for ordering their marriage licence and checking the details it contains for correctness. I take no responsibility for correctness.

The Births, Deaths, Marriages, and Relationships Registration Act 2021 requires me to register every marriage and civil union that I perform. I do this immediately after your wedding and am happy to notify you that this has been done if you would like me to.

Ceremony script

Your ceremony is written by me with and for you. You own it and may use it in any way that you see fit. I retain a copy, which with your permission I may show to prospective clients as an example of my work. I will not give them a copy of it, only show it to them.

Promotional material

By utilising me as your celebrant you agree to provide me with photos and videos of your ceremony, and testimonials. Your feedback, photographs and videos will only be used in promotional material by me, your authorised celebrant with your permission. I may also take photos on the day of your ceremony and use these at a mutually agreed time after your ceremony.

There are times when I can not legally marry you.

I am legally bound to refuse to marry anyone who is intoxicated, to only utilise witnesses who are sober, and never to marry anyone under duress. While you may be keen to marry, please don't put me in a position where I have to decline to marry you on your chosen date.

Clients agree that they will not arrive at the ceremony either appearing to be inebriated, or actually inebriated.
